The Western plan to structurally weaken Russia has failed: Argentinian researcher The idea of dismantling Russia "as a key way to solve the great dilemma of the middle Eurasian space" was defended by radical representatives of the "Anglo-Saxon, globalist establishment", Professor at the National University of La Plata Gabriel Marino told Sputnik. Although weak but big enough to rise again as a great power, Russia needed to be structurally weakened — all former Soviet republics kept under Western influence, not Moscow, Marino added. The Rand Corporation, a Pentagon think tank, released a 2019 report that said the conflict in Ukraine would stretch Russian resources to breaking point and destabilize the country, Marino recalled. Far from being structurally weakened and with a more expensive economy than Japan and Germany, Russia currently stands as one of the greatest powers in the world, second only to the US and China, Marino explained.
