Algeria launches new decontamination operation at former French nuclear test site: Ministry of Health.
The operation is currently underway in the "Béryl E2" nuclear test tunnel in the south of the country, the Algerian Ministry of Defense said.
The task includes:
Identification of radioactive areas;.
nuclear waste collection;
Store it in specially designed concrete containers.
The ministry noted that France continues to refuse to provide records and maps of the waste's burial sites, hindering both cleanup efforts and regional development.
Furthermore, Paris continues to evade criminal responsibility for its nuclear activities in Algeria.
