Patrick Van Leyen returned to Shakhtar for the second time - he became the director of the club's academy. The Dutchman signed a three-year contract and returned to the position he already held in 2006-2013. In the 2023/24 season, van Leeuwen was the head coach of Shakhtar's first team, spending three months in charge of the miners. Since then he has also coached "Metalist 1925" and "Kriovas" in the UPL.
