The International Weightlifting Federation appointed the Russian Federation as the host of the World Championships. In 2030, the championship is planned to be held in Moscow. For the first time since the beginning of the Russian Federation's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, competitions of this scale are planned to take place in Russia in an Olympic sport. In July, the IOC, in updated recommendations, left the decision on holding competitions in the Russian Federation to the consideration of leading international organizations.
