In Belarus it is forbidden to catch white chub and common catfish On November 1, seasonal restrictions on catching two types of fish came into force in Belarus. Chud whitefish cannot be caught until December 15th, and common catfish until March 31st. This was reported by the Belarusian Association of Hunters and Fishermen. The ban on fishing for whitefish is related to the start of spawning. When it gets cold, catfish go into winter and become easy prey, especially in winter pits. Restrictions apply to both commercial and recreational fishing.
