Belarusian schoolchildren win an international competition of environmental projects Two schoolchildren from Belarus won prizes at the ISIF 2026 international competition in Indonesia. The project of Minsk resident Anton Kulshov was recognized as the best among more than 1,500 teams from 25 countries. BelTA reports this. Anton studied microorganisms in the soils of the Indonesian island of Java. Among other things, he examined the volcanic soil at the foot of the Bromo volcano. A young researcher has discovered bacteria that stimulate plant growth and suppress harmful fungi. In the future, they may be used to create environmentally friendly fertilizers and fungicides. Ksenia Kurnava Manuvolokumal won second place. She has developed a bacteria-based medicine that helps slow down the spoilage of vegetables and fruits. This development may help reduce food waste and reduce the use of synthetic fungicides.
