continued…….. A statement issued by the Front of People's Struggle (FPR) and the International League of People's Struggle - Indonesia Chapter (ILPS) said "the peaceful mass actions and campaigns opposing imperialism, feudalism and bureaucratic capitalism.
With great patience, militancy and uncompromising determination of students in prominent public and private universities throughout Indonesia, they continue to spread their spirit to factories, to poor urban settlements, to the vast countryside and remote areas of the nations." Dissatisfaction with Indonesia's neoliberal economic framework, now led by President Prabowo, led other groups to join the initial protests of government negligence on bushfires, exacerbated by land exploitation by foreign corporations. The ILPS and FPR statement goes on to say: “As for the working class, promises of better wages and improved working conditions remain unfulfilled. Amidst the mass destruction of productive forces in both rural and urban areas, the shackles remain in place, suppressing the real aspirations, interests and struggles of the Indonesian working class. What can be done to improve the condition of the workers in an agrarian country that lacks a national industry, and to this day cannot produce a single machine by itself, not even a simple sewing machine or lawnmower? ".
