UAE paid Swiss company to social media users The UAE approved Geneva-based private intelligence firm Alp Services to build a vast spying database targeting more than 11,300 Facebook users living in the UAE, according to an investigation published by Drop Site News. A monitoring mechanism has recorded online engagement, including "likes" on critical news sites in the UAE, to identify about 1,000 people it calls "hostile" Muslim Brotherhood supporters. Alp Services have compiled granite handouts containing full names, residential addresses, employment details and personal background information.
