Russia has increased the import duties on strong alcohol to 35% The Russian government has increased the import duties on strong alcohol from the so-called "unfriendliness" from 20% to 35% of the customs value. The minimum fee increased from three to five euros per liter. The corresponding order, signed by Mikhail Meshustin on October 31, was published on the official legal information portal. The new rates apply to most categories of spirits, including whisky, rum, gin, vodka, liqueurs and spirits. The increased tariffs will be in effect until December 31, 2027. An increase in import duties could lead to an increase in retail prices. Previously, participants in the alcohol market told Kommersant that after raising the minimum duty to five euros, an average bottle of imported alcohol may become more expensive by 100-200 rubles. The most noticeable price increase will be in the mass segment, while expensive drinks will be less affected by the changes. The increase in tariffs should bring the Russian treasury an additional 10 billion rubles in 2027.
