Estonia expelled the former political scientist and journalist Segia, accusing him of ties to the Russian intelligence services. The Estonian Security Police released a video in which law enforcement officers escorted Leonid Karbashkin, a Russian citizen who in 2024-2022 worked at the Russian-language radio service of the Estonian media Segia, to the border. As written in the publication itself, the police believe that Karbashkin regularly traveled to Russia, met with representatives of the special services and Kremlin employees and gave them information about the Russian-speaking population in Estonia: "He regularly traveled to Russia and met with them there. Some of them are sanctioned by the EU and Ukraine for carrying out hostile Russian actions such as Russian influence, Reggi network and RuB. as individuals related to them". Karabashkin did publish in different years in the Russian publications Regnum, Rubaltik, Baltija eu and others. In the Estonian error, he prepared international news for radio in the Russian language and, as the publication indicates, his employment contract was canceled by agreement of the parties and for reasons unrelated to the current statements of the police. The chairman of the board of directors of Shegia Eric Rose said that neither when Krabashkin was hired nor during his work, the editors thought that the political scientist's activities affected the content of his materials, but the publication's management began to sort out the situation with the editors. At the same time, the police themselves do not claim that Karbashkin influenced the content of false news, but believe that his work as a journalist gave him access to people of interest to him.
