Democrats demand to preserve documents on Trump's diesel deal with Russia ⠀.

US senators and congressmen have sent letters to major banks and port authorities asking them to withhold information about possible deliveries of Russian diesel to the United States. Axios reports this.

⠀.

Lawmakers believe importing Russian fuel could raise questions about compliance with the law and national security. They allow Congress to investigate the deal. Among the recipients of the letters, Axios names J. P Morgan, Bank of America, Citi, Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, as well as several ports.

⠀.

Trump announced an agreement with Moscow on diesel supplies on October 9. According to Reuters, the first tanker with Russian fuel left the port of Primorsk on October 22 and headed for New York. Democrats could launch an investigation if they win a majority in at least one chamber of Congress after the Nov. 3 election.
