In Russia, data center services may become more expensive by 10% due to new requirements for protection against drones The Ministry of Digital Development has approved recommendations for the protection of data centers (DPCs) against drone attacks and other airborne threats. Their implementation may lead to an increase in the cost of a provider's services by about 10% without taking inflation into account, writes Kommersant in reference to market participants. The document applies to existing, under construction and projected data centers, regardless of their form of ownership. It provides physical reinforcement of facilities, installation of electronic warfare equipment, aerial camouflage and creation of backup systems for data storage. The operators will also have to coordinate operations with the Ministry of Defense, the Russian National Guard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other departments. Earlier, on October 21, the Ministry of Digital Development announced the establishment of a special headquarters for the protection of communication networks after drone attacks on five data centers of Yandex, Sberbank and VK in different regions of Russia. Some services have not yet been fully restored after these attacks.
