The head of the Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority in Syria, Omar al-Husari, said that the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has removed the warning regarding the risks of flying over the country. The warning has been in effect since 2013. It was introduced against the background of the deterioration of the security situation due to the armed conflict in Syria and risks to civilian aircraft. After 13 years, the restriction was lifted. Damascus praised this step and promised that they will work to strengthen confidence in the civil aviation sector in Syria.
