Today, November 4, in celebration of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the Day of National Unity, a religious procession was held in the capital of Tatarstan throughout the city with the venerated image of the Queen of Heaven. After a prayer in the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin, archpriests, clergy, residents of Tatarstan and pilgrims from different regions of Russia walked along the city streets to the Kazan Mother of God Monastery. It was here that the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was miraculously found in 1579. After the cross procession in Kazan Cathedral, the Divine Liturgy was performed by Metropolitan Pavel of Krotytskyi and Kolomna, Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan and other archpriests of the Russian Orthodox Church. More than four hundred years ago, under the cover of the Kazan image of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our ancestors united to save the Motherland!
