Grain transportation On October 30, 2026, the "Agrologistics-2026" conference took place in Moscow. Key points: In the 2026/2027 season, world wheat production is expected to decrease by 2% to 815.8 million tons. International trade in wheat slowed considerably due to reduced exports from leading suppliers in the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the United States. The wheat harvest in the Russian Federation will be 89.8 million tons (-1.2 million tons compared to last year), all grains will be 137.4 million tons (-4.5 million tons). Exports for 9 months amounted to 36 million tons. The leading exporters: Egypt, Turkey, Iran, China. In the past, 70-90% of Russian exports and about 60% of vegetable oil exports passed through AChB. As of today, about 4 million tons of wheat have been exported through the Baltic ports. The potential is estimated at 9 million tons, but today the Baltic is congested - port stations cannot cope, there is not enough storage volume. There is some competition at the terminals from the transfer of mineral fertilizers. The cost of transporting the grain when crossing the Baltic Sea increased by $50-100/ton, and by 40-100% or more. Transportation through the Caspian Sea and the Far East will amount to about 6 million tons, but is also limited by transport capacities and port facilities promising possible routes: the North-South ITC, NSR does not yet have a dedicated infrastructure. In 2025, the route through Afghanistan/Pakistan began operating in pilot mode.
