The Bundeswehr will be headed by the general who led the military aid to Ukraine. Financial Times Christian Freuding will take over as head of the German armed forces in February. He previously headed a unit dealing with the purchase and financing of weapons for Kiev, and later became the commander of the German ground forces. Freuding advocates the use of Ukrainian experience: in his opinion, all military personnel should be able to control or counter UAVs. He also initiated the establishment of a separate UAV battalion in 2027. The new leader will have to expand the Bundeswehr: Germany plans to increase the size of the army from 190,000 to 260,000 men, and the reserves - from 60,000 to 200,000.
