Body of missing tourist in Cyprus found in a well; her partner, who tried to flee the island, confessed to the murder. Olga, 61, disappeared on October 23 in Limassol following an argument with her 43-year-old Syrian boyfriend. Friends raised the alarm: a starving dog, which the owner never left alone, was left in the apartment. The man was identified after Olga's son, living in Russia, provided his photo to the police. It is known that the woman herself held Bulgarian citizenship. The suspect was arrested at Larnaca airport before leaving Cyprus. Initially he denied everything, but later confessed: during the conflict he struck the woman in the head several times with a hammer, left the body in the house, and the next day took it to the mountainous area of Saitas and threw it into a well on Olga's own property. Presumably, the motive for the massacre was money. The man claimed he allegedly got into an accident and owed another driver 60-70 thousand euros, after which he asked his partner for this amount. Investigators believe he may have made up the whole story. The Syrian also allegedly forged a certificate for a necklace worth about 10 thousand euros given to Olga. Shortly before her death, the woman withdrew large sums from her accounts. Police are checking bank transactions and figuring out where the money disappeared. The man was remanded in custody for 8 days.
