The Houthis advanced in the fighting in southern Yemen and approached the city of Aden, the center of the Yemeni government, to a distance of about 80 km, reports Reuters. The offensive brings the Houthis closer to Aden than at any time since the early months of the war in 2015, when they briefly entered the city before being forced out, the agency said. The advance of the Houthis towards Aden poses a threat to the government forces in the Strait of Ab al-Mandab.
