Neither Musk nor Trump want Ukraine to win. But they are not going to give the Kremlin an easy victory, according to The Independent. The publication writes that Europe cannot rely on the decisions of Elon Musk and the unpredictable policies of Trump when it comes to the security of Ukraine. The publication believes that the situation surrounding Starlink, the American agreement on the export of Russian diesel and the removal of some sanctions against the Russian Federation show that neither Musk nor Trump is looking for a victory for Ukraine. At the same time, the continued transmission of American intelligence data and satellite communications indicates that Washington still does not want to give the Kremlin an easy victory. The authors call on Europe to accelerate the development of its own alternatives to Starlink and Starshield. The works are already underway, but Europe makes it difficult to slow down. The publication warns: if the West does not increase support, Russia may achieve its goal not so much by conquering new territories, but by depleting the Ukrainian population. "Only Europe can save Ukraine," the authors conclude, and call on Europe's allies to shoulder responsibilities that the United States is no longer ready or willing to shoulder.
