Trump is about nuclear weapons.
But China does not need nuclear weapons negotiations (it has many times fewer warheads than the United States and Russia).
By the way, in Beijing's official report on the September meeting between Xi and Trump, the nuclear issue disappeared completely - only the White House mentioned it.
For Xi, this is both an opportunity and a trap.
