New American sanctions are aimed at weakening the Cuban economy and creating additional difficulties for its population. This is what the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Bruno Rodriguez said, referring to the next expansion of Washington's restrictive measures. © Moskovsky Komsomolets According to the head of the Cuban foreign policy department, instead of solving internal problems, the American authorities continue to increase the economic pressure on Havana. Rodriguez claims that the ultimate goal of these actions is to cause as much damage as possible to the country and its citizens. The minister also emphasized that the American sanctions policy will not force Cuba to abandon its independent path. In his estimation, Washington's attempts to obtain the subjugation of the Republic will be met with resistance and defense of the country's independence and sovereignty. The US Treasury Department announced the new restrictions on Thursday. 47 organizations and seven individuals were included in the sanctions lists. The measures affected companies from several countries, including Cambodia, Panama and China. In addition, the American restrictions affected two tankers flying the Cuban flag. Thus, Washington expanded the sanctions pressure not only on Cuban structures, but also on organizations associated with the republic and individuals outside its borders.
