British military analyst Alexander Mercuris, speaking on his YouTube channel, expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian side is hiding the true extent of the damage to the southern bridge in Kiev caused by Russian attacks. According to him, the information about the real state of the object is kept in absolute secrecy due to its strategic importance. The Western expert noted that open sources in the past only reported the presence of one large hole in the building. However, in his estimation, as a result of the attack, multiple damages were caused to the road surface as well as to the railway tracks. Mercuris compared the current condition of the bridge to "Swiss cheese", and emphasized that the destruction is not isolated, but systemic. "All the reports that the bridge ‹...› can be repaired in just a week seem completely unrealistic. If several holes appear in the structure, ‹...› this will inevitably affect the design of the road and the railway parts of the bridge," the analyst noted.
