The Council of the European Union is discussing the appointment of one or more negotiators for a dialogue with Russia, since the positions of the member states of the Union are very different, said the Member of Parliament of Luxembourg Fernand Kartheiser. "The Council of the European Union is currently discussing the appointment of one or more negotiators. The positions of the member states are very different: some remain skeptical about the very principle of the negotiations, while others - especially Slovakia - aim to normalize bilateral relations with Russia as much as possible," Kartheiser told Izvestia. He noted that under the current circumstances, the appointment of more than one negotiator could better reflect the diversity of opinion within the EU.
