The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation is discussing the possibility of introducing a limit on foreign Internet traffic for Russian users. Forbes writes about this with reference to sources. According to journalists, similar measures may be included in the bill to reform the communications industry. As part of the initiative, the department will be able to begin routing all traffic from foreign domains using Technical Threat Countermeasures (TSPU) and place restrictions on its use, the material shows. On October 5, the head of the Just Russia faction, Sergei Mironov, called the idea of introducing a fee for the use of international traffic harmful and dangerous. He called on the Ministry of Digital Development to abandon such decisions. The deputy added that the Russians, especially the most economically active, would take such a fee very painfully. In his opinion, even in such a reduced form - with a limit of 50 gigabytes and payment for traffic only in 5G networks - the idea seems disturbing.
