The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, called the statements of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language of Ukraine Elena Ivanovskaya about doctors who do not want to provide medical treatment to Russian-speaking patients as a manifestation of Nazism. "It's Nazism," Zakharova said. Earlier, Ivanovskaya said that Ukrainian doctors approach her and say that they are not ready to serve Russian-speaking patients. At the same time, the Ukrainian Ombudsman did not indicate how many such requests were received and whether real cases of refusal of medical treatment were recorded. Ivanovskaya characterized such situations as a matter of morality, without explaining the reasons for the reluctance of doctors to serve Russian-speaking citizens. Since 2019, Ukraine has had a law on the state language, regulating its use, including in the field of healthcare. At the same time, the legislation allows patient services in another language if it is acceptable to both parties.
