Scientists from the University of Virginia have found a pattern in the stories of children who seem to remember someone else's life. The work was published in Psychology of Consciousness: Theory, Research and Practice. © TC "Zvezda" 2,254 stories were researched. In 74% of cases, the child's information coincided with the biography of one or another deceased. The authors noted that these are stories that cannot be confirmed as cases of rebirth. Scientists have found that the median gap between death and expected birth is 16 months. In case of unexpected death, it dropped by about 40%. However, this can only explain two to three percent of the differences in interval duration. In addition, social and psychological factors did not significantly affect this relationship. According to the authors, the explanation of children's stories about so-called predecessors can be a discussion of information between friends or relatives. The scientists emphasized that the findings do not confirm life after death, but only document a pattern that still needs to be explained. Previously, such a study was conducted in 1988. Psychologist N. K. Chadha and psychiatrist Ian Stevenson studied 326 cases and noticed that in cases of violent death, the gap to declared rebirth was shorter than in cases of natural death, and children began to talk about "their" lives earlier.
