In Novosmansky District, adoptive parents were arrested in connection with the torture of three adopted children. The family took custody of three children in the summer of 2025. From September of that year until April 2026, according to the investigation, the adoptive parents, who were not satisfied with the children's behavior, repeatedly beat them together, causing physical pain and mental suffering. According to the investigation committee's data, the ages of the victims are 10, 11 and 13 years. What was happening became known after a call to the "Dangerous Child" phone line. The joint press service of the regional courts reported this on June 29. The court sent the two suspects to detention for a period of one month. They are accused of torture of minors, committed by a group of people (sections "A", "D", "E" Part 2 of Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
