3 pro-"Palestinian" activists were arrested after replacing the German national flag with a so-called "Palestinian" flag outside Germany's parliament building.
A 22-year-old anarchist climbed the approximately 30-meter flagpole at 11:30 in the morning, removed the historic German unity flag, threw it to the ground and waved the so-called "Palestinian" in its place.
2 accomplices, aged 20 and 32, assisted and filmed the operation.
Police and firefighters intervened and removed the flag after the climber came down around 12:30 p.m. The group Peacefully Against Genocide claimed responsibility, protesting Germany's support for Israel.
The police temporarily arrested all 4 men, then released the 32-year-old, while the 22-year-old remained in custody. Berlin's State Security Police opened an investigation into suspected desecration of national symbols, damage to property, trespassing and violations of assembly laws.
