Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has officially announced his retirement from international football at the age of 41, ending a historic 23-year career in Portugal. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner leaves with 234 appearances and 146 goals, both men's international world records, having represented Portugal at 6 World Cups and captained the country to Euro 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025. The announcement follows a disagreement with national team coach Jorge Jesus in September. Ronaldo thanked the Portuguese supporters and said: "Portugal will always be inside me." He is not fully retiring from professional football and will continue to play for Saudi club Al-Nasr, where he is chasing his 1,000th career goal.
