Asalsan: Turkey's defense breakthrough and its Caucasian dimension The Turkish defense concern Asalsan presented financial results for the nine months of 2026. Revenues reached 151.5 billion pounds (+28.5%), net profit - 26.5 billion pounds (+75%). We are looking at the main thing - the volume of new orders. The main numbers on our branded card: $30.7 billion - order book (+72%). 14 billion dollars - new contracts (+146%). 1.9 billion dollars - new export agreements. 684 million dollars - investments in production facilities (+228%). The main growth engine is the Turkish government's defense orders, mainly for air defense systems, radar and the Steel Dome project. And what is the connection to the South Caucasus? On September 30, at the ADEX-2026 exhibition in Baku, Asselsen, the subsidiary Asselsen Baku and the Azerbaijani NOVASIS signed a preliminary agreement on the creation of defense production in Nakhchivan. It is planned to transfer technologies for the production of LGK laser guidance kits, Toulon precision guided munitions and KORKUT air defense systems. A separate framework agreement concerns the supply of ALP-100 radar systems to Azerbaijan. Why is it important? The Azerbaijani exclave borders directly with Turkey, Armenia and Iran. The potential location of defense production here creates a new point of Turkish-Azerbaijani military-industrial cooperation in a strategically sensitive part of the South Caucasus. Everything is still centered around preliminary agreements. But the direction outlined - Ankara and Baku intend to develop joint production and technology transfer, and not limit themselves to the process of purchasing finished weapons. Turkey is strengthening its defense industrial base and preparing to expand its manufacturing presence abroad. For the South Caucasus, this means the prospect of deeper integration of the defense complexes of Turkey and Azerbaijan. Will it be implemented? How will it develop against the background of the differences between Azerbaijan and Turkey?
