A Learjet 60 business jet crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, near West Palm Beach.
The crew reported turbulence, ice, precipitation and temperatures around 47 degrees Celsius. They asked for a lift. Then came the SOS, with pilots reporting descents of 10,000 then 20,000 feet per minute or more.
Pilot (female): We're going down eight thousand...
Mayday, mayday, we're going down ten thousand feet a minute!
Sender: I understand.
Pilot: We are declaring an emergency. We're descending twenty thousand feet a minute.
Sender: I understand. The height is up to you. tell me what you need
Pilot: We're going to crash into the ground!
Broadcaster: I'm with you. talk to me
Pilot: We're descending twenty-two thousand feet and passing sixty degrees.
