Follow Safa| Ministry of Education and Higher Education: The global silence regarding attacks on students and universities serves as encouragement for the occupation to continue its crimes. We condemn the injury of five students, some of them very seriously, as a result of Israel's bombing of the Islamic University campus in Gaza City this morning (Sunday) while they were there to receive lectures and classes. We confirm our support for the Islamic University and commend the decision to suspend classes in order to preserve the lives of students. 95% of the buildings of higher education institutions in the Gaza Strip were damaged as a result of the war. 10 students and a teacher were murdered during the last six days against the background of the continuing attacks in the education sector. We call on the occupation to be committed to international laws and humanitarian norms and to avoid harming educational institutions and civilian objects. We call on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the international institutions to condemn the attacks and the pressure to protect the Palestinian education system. We confirm that Palestinian academic institutions continue to perform their duties despite attempts at repression and intimidation.
