When a Jew born in Yazd became the president of Israel! Musa Kassab was born on December 5, 1324 in the village of Hubidak in the Yazd district and lived in the neighborhood of Dar a-Shifa, near the Jama Mosque of Yazd. He was also known as Masha'Allah and his father, Shmuel, worked as a waiter at the Mulla Agha Baba Bizad Synagogue. In 1330, when he was only six years old, together with his father Shmuel, his mother Gohar and other family members, he went to the occupied lands. They chose a butcher family and changed his name to Moshe, the Hebrew equivalent of Moshe. They lived for a while in a tent and then moved to Kiryat Malachi. Moshe Katsav entered the regime's parliament from the Likud party in 1356 and later became Deputy Minister of Housing, Minister of Labor, Minister of Transportation, Minister of Tourism and Deputy Prime Minister. Finally, he was elected the eighth president of Israel in 1379 and remained in this position until 1386. In 1386, after one of his former employees complained of rape in 1377, the case was transferred to the prosecutor's office, and several other women filed a similar complaint. The evidence was enough and finally in July 2006 Katsav resigned from the presidency. Finally, on December 30, 2009, a three-member jury unanimously found Katsav guilty and found him guilty of two counts of sexual assault. Katsav was sentenced to seven years in prison and entered Ramla prison on December 7, 1390 to serve his sentence. He was released from prison in January 2015, after serving about five years of his seven-year sentence. His release was conditional and did not mean the cancellation of the conviction or acquittal.
