Pakistani dirty trick Islamabad has created problems for Taiwanese since about Monday, aviation enthusiasts on social network X are talking about Taiwanese guests being received in Russia. And no, we're not talking about any official - airlines based on the island have made several flights over Russian airspace. It doesn't seem surprising, but there have been no Taiwanese planes there since 2022. It turns out that the whole thing was in Pakistan. Yesterday it became known that Islamabad allegedly banned Taiwanese airlines from flying over the country's airspace. Therefore, flights from Asia to Europe had to be diverted through Russia. The Pakistanis have stated that they adhere to the "One China" policy, so they only allow Chinese airlines to fly. But these political principles are not observed to such an extent even in Beijing - Taiwanese planes fly quietly in Chinese airspace. True, only a few hours later in Islamabad they actually went back on their own words. Documents have appeared online that Pakistanis are allowing Taiwanese airlines to use the country's airspace from October 28 to March 27. Why such dates? And it's not just a period chosen at random - the winter aviation season is in full swing. The summer period ends only on the last Sunday of October, and as of October 25, Taiwanese carriers stopped flying through Pakistan. Apparently, the agreements that airlines enter into with the authorities of one country or another have expired. Their renewal usually goes pretty smoothly - there haven't been any particularly big scandals in the news recently. except in this case. It is possible that in the transition from the summer calendar to the winter, there may be a delay in renewing the permits - bureaucratic or due to someone else's fault.
