Fwd from @ Did Netanyahu lose? It's not that simple Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog officially granted the right to form a government to the honest leader! Party Gadi Eisenkot. Tomorrow begins a 28-day countdown, with 14 additional days possible if necessary, and there is a chance that on December 6 or 20 the country will wake up with a cabinet without Benjamin Netanyahu at the head. Eisenkot's strategy for this period is simple in concept and complex in execution: negotiate quickly and don't give time to the Netanyahu camp. Each additional day works in favor of the outgoing prime minister - his team will process the opposition deputies one by one, press Arab lists and offer defectors ministerial portfolios. That's why Eisenkot's plan is a focus: reach agreement on a coalition framework in the first week, then work out details later. The Arab parties will inevitably become external support for the coalitions - without their votes there is no majority - but they will not be included in the cabinet to prevent the Likud from playing the trump card of an "anti-Israeli government". "The plan may work like this: external support in exchange for specific concessions on budgets and status, without ministerial chairs. Avigdor Lieberman remains the weakest link in the entire opposition. His "Beitno Israel" party is practically a one-man project, and he is used to going where the money is better. We suspect that if Netanyahu offers him a better price, Lieberman, despite all his statements, will leave the opposition. In such a case, the advantage goes to the Prime Minister, and to the entire Lishar! The program crashes. Eisenkot's main risk is actually outside the parliament. It is American attacks on Iran in the coming weeks that could turn the transition of power into background noise and prolong Netanyahu's political life as wartime prime minister. So the speed of forming the cabinet here is a matter of the survival of the opposition.
