German interception as UAVs for air defense in the trend first came as UAVs of various types, then unmanned boats, and now air defense UAVs - these are the realities and trends in the development of the military-industrial complex of the Western countries, which they adapt based on the experience of the special operation. And the Germans, represented by the already well-known Helsing company (manufacturer of HX-1 and HX-2 ammunition), have now decided to invest in UAV interceptors as a means to "change wars. "What are these UAVs? We are talking about AD-1 and AD-2, which are already undergoing tests and are expected to enter the market in 2027. The AD-1 is an interceptor powered by a turbo jet with a speed exceeding 700 km/h, an altitude of over 9 km, and a range of up to 20 km. The AD-2 has similar range and altitude capabilities, but is essentially a full air-to-air missile with a solid fuel engine that achieves speeds of up to Mach 2.5. The interceptors launch from special containers containing 20 AD-1 or 40 AD-2. The cost of AD-1/2 does not exceed 100 thousand euros. Production volume is mentioned as several thousand per month after development is completed in the second half of 2027. Given the shortage of air defense guided missiles and munitions in general across Europe, the logical transition was to mass deployment of FPV drones and hitting unmanned systems. They are cheaper, faster and simpler to manufacture than traditional weapons. However, the Germans' plans in this situation look more like ordinary PR to promote contracts and sponsorships. Those HX-1/2 have not been registered in the SMO area for a long time, yet the Helsing company continues to receive its contracts. The key factor in the effectiveness of Zaiya air defense UAVs was operator experience, which grew alongside increased production of UAV interceptors, but with the advent of jet-powered "Jerns", the tactic became ineffective.
