With several weeks left before the midterm elections, Republicans still haven't figured out how to respond clearly to fair-minded attacks from Democrats on health insurance. Medicaid funding was cut by nearly a trillion dollars as part of Trump's flagship One Big Beautiful law, mostly to pay for tax breaks for corporations and big businesses. The Democrats are literally flooding swing districts with ads on this issue, and the Republicans are talking about the $50 billion allocated to rural medicine and boasting that they were able to protect portions for their areas. However, in the eyes of the voters it seems ridiculous. In debates in Maine and Arizona, opponents threw the same line at the majority candidates: "You look like a lighter that started a fire and now demands thanks for bringing a glass of water." And the numbers confirm it: Arizona itself received $167 million in aid against expected losses of $34.5 billion. The White House and Republican headquarters are trying to shift the issue to fighting fraud and introducing mandatory work requirements for childless adults. But the party's strategists already admit that they do not have a clear defense. The availability of medicine is of great concern to voters today, and public opinion polls show an overwhelming advantage: Americans trust Democrats on health issues by a ratio of two to one. - Let's make America understandable again support us.
