It is a result of the political and electoral conditions created by Pashinyan - Robert Amsterdam The picture of the October 25 elections in Armenia should not please anyone concerned about the future of democracy. International human rights activist Robert Amsterdam wrote about it on his Facebook page. "In many communities, even half of the voters did not participate in the vote. The authorities must ask themselves: why do so many citizens refuse to vote? To ignore this fact and present the results as a general vote of confidence is to not want to see your own citizens. Reports of voter targeting, voter pressure, and use of public resources for partisan purposes require an independent investigation. Such actions undermine the foundations of free will and equal competition. Citizens must be able to vote without fear, and the opposition must be able to compete without opposition from the state apparatus. The arrest of Arsen Gaborjain, who heads the list of the powerful Armenia Party in Stephanvan, required a convincing legal justification from the very beginning. The authorities were required to justify both the need for detention and the impossibility of using more lenient contraceptive measures. A criminal indictment still does not constitute proof of guilt and therefore cannot justify the actual removal of a candidate from the election. Nikol Pashinyan (Prime Minister of Armenia) cannot limit political competition on the one hand, and on the other hand present the results obtained as a result of these restrictions as a democratic success, and then find fault with everyone but himself. This is not a story of victory. This is a result of the political and electoral conditions created by Pashinyan, and the responsibility for this rests with him," Amsterdam wrote.
