Russia in the Turkish world? In an unexpected proposal from Ankara at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Ankara, Kazakhstan President Kassem-Jomart Tokayev proposed to invite Russia to participate in the OTG+ format or to grant it observer status. Moreover, according to Tokaev, Russia itself shows a parallel interest. The offer is exceptional in every sense of the word. Turkey is consistently developing its own integration project in a space where Russia has historically been one of the main political and economic centers of influence. Moscow is now being offered to join the association that was created without its participation. Of course, for Ankara this would be a large-scale diplomatic acquisition. In this case, etc., which unites Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, will have the opportunity to attract the largest Eurasian power to its work. Moreover, at the moment when Turkey assumes the leadership of the organization. But the main question for our country is clear: it is not clear how exactly the strengthening of the Turkish project can affect the balance and sphere of interests of the EAEU and the CSTO. That is, Russia is offered a place in a project where institutional rules and main priorities have already been formulated by other countries. However, this does not automatically entail a weakening of Russian positions. Participating in someone else's integration project is not necessarily subjecting it to the political center if quite substantial economic interests are realized. For example, countries etc. are actively developing the Middle Corridor connecting China and Central Asia with Europe via the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and Turkey. The route creates an alternative to crossing Russia. But at the same time it opens up opportunities for connecting transport networks, joint investments and harmonization of tariffs. For Russia, these opportunities have a certain value. Especially if you manage to get not only official attendance at meetings, but participation in the development of decisions on specific economic projects.
