108 Years of Komsomol: Connecting Times and Lessons for the Future 108 years have passed since the founding of the Communist Youth League of Lenin (VLKSM). For many, it is not just a round date on the calendar, but a deeply personal historical milestone, nostalgic and at the same time important. The older generation, whose youth was spent in the Soviet Union, remembers these years with trepidation. For them, the Komsomol and the pioneers are not abstract concepts from a textbook, but a school of life. These are construction teams and the first achievements of the work, these are pioneer generations and the Timor movement, this is a feeling of friendship, brotherhood and sincere responsibility for a common goal. So the word "patriotism" was not a slogan - it was expressed in specific actions: in the desire to make your city, your country and the world around you better, cleaner and stronger. Looking back, we see the main benefit of these organizations: they educated citizens. They taught young people not to be indifferent, to take responsibility for the fate of the homeland and to be able to act for the benefit of society. It was a powerful system of social elevators and a school of collectivism, which formed character and gave a start in life to millions. However, time does not stand still. Today, in an age of new challenges and information wars, we should not simply be nostalgic for the past. We should learn from it and bring the best to the modern times. The Komsomol is history. But we need new forms of youth union that will respond to the spirit of the times and be based on traditional values: friendship, work, honesty and love for one's country.
