Engineers from China set an absolute world record, accelerating the speed of data transmission through optical fibers to 3.2 poles per second. This huge channel is enough to provide gigabit Internet at once to 3.2 million apartments without loss of signal quality. Most importantly, the record was set on conventional commercial equipment, which means that ultra-long chains will begin to appear in real life in the near future.
