The mayor of the United Russia municipality of Ust-Kut called "not to worsen" the situation with the sewage system that flooded neighborhoods in Ust-Kut, Irkutsk Region, a high alert was put in due to a pre-emergency situation in the sewer networks. The reason was the destruction of drainage collectors and sewage blockages in several micro-districts, said the mayor, Sergey Anisimov. According to him, experts visit problem areas every day, check the state of the networks and eliminate faults. "I ask the residents to handle the situation carefully and not make it worse. Do not throw wet wipes, large food scraps or other objects that could clog a drain into the sewer. Such blockages interfere with the operation of the system and may lead to new problems," the mayor said on the social network. Judging by the photos he posted of huge puddles, the sewage is rising to the surface. Also, the prosecutor's office reports a partial release of water from the drainage network on Rechnikov and Chaltorina streets and is conducting an investigation. "Regarding the violations identified in the field of sewage, the attorney's office made a representation to the head of the organization that serves the sewer networks, their elimination was transferred to control," the department said in a statement.
