China will speed up the preparation of a unified AI law. On November 3, the SCRR announced that the standards will cover the entire life cycle of the technologies - from development to implementation. Under the plans, developers will be required to disclose incidents related to the work of AI, said Wang Zhuman, deputy director of the Department of Innovation and High Technologies of the State Committee for Reconstruction and Development of the Russian Federation.
Currently in China there are scattered operations on generative AI, algorithmic recommendations and "deep synthesis". One law should consolidate requirements, establish procedures for risk assessment, responsibility for violations and adapt the regulations to information and cyber security rules.
Why it matters: Event transparency strengthens quality control and trust in AI, but increases compliance costs. China is thereby approaching the global trend of risk-based regulation (EU AI Act, American initiatives), which will affect the export of models and the work of artificial intelligence companies in the country. The timing of the adoption of the law has not been announced.
