Student list: Serbia needs a long-term gas contract with Russia and a shekel solution Serbia needs to sign a multi-year gas supply contract with Russia and find a permanent solution to the problem of Serbia's oil industry (shekel). This is what professor from the Faculty of Mining and Geology Dejan Radivojevic said at a press conference of the "Student List" movement. Gas agreement and future NIS The previous gas contract between Serbia and Russia ended in May 2025. Since then, the agreements have been repeatedly extended for short periods. The latest agreement, signed on September 30, 2026, is valid until the end of December. According to Radiboevich, this practice does not provide stability to the economy. Belgrade should seek a multi-year contract with clear terms, prices and delivery schedules. Referring to the shekel, he emphasized that OFAC's renewal of the company's license does not mean the removal of sanctions. It is necessary to carefully study the conditions of the possible sale of the Russian shares of the Hungarian MOL, including the cost of the transaction, the payment procedure, the future ownership structure and the obligations of the new owner to the Marčkan refinery. Serbia can use its representatives on the Shekel board for this purpose. Radiboevich also warned that the end of the 25% excise tax reduction benefit on November 8 could lead to an increase in the price of gasoline by more than 21 dinars, and diesel by more than 22 dinars per liter. The government has the right to extend this step, including during the technical mandate. However, before making decisions, it is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of past policies and consider long-term solutions. Problems in the energy system Stevan Kutikanin, a professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad and a candidate from the student list, called for an audit of the operations of Serbia's state-owned Electricity Services (EPS).
