Patriarch Porphyry: Let everyone vote according to their conscience and according to their choice, with the common good in mind. Let there be no hatred, and the result must be accepted with humility. The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), Patriarch Porfiri, called today, in connection with the elections, for everyone to vote according to their choice, not to allow hatred and to accept the results of the vote with humility. "If we have peace, whatever the outcome, it will bring good, blessed be it. If we have confusion, anger and hatred, then whatever the result, it will be devastating for everyone. Let everyone act according to their conscience and free will, without fear, to take care of keeping the peace and save their brothers", said the Patriarch Porfiri in a "message published by the information service of the SOC. "I felt the need to encourage all of us to pray that God will give us good, give us peace and help us to remain and become what Saint Sava wants us to be," he said. "Today is an important day for Serbia - today there are elections. Of course, I won't tell anyone how to vote. Let everyone vote according to their conscience, according to their choice, thinking about the common good, but also taking care of the good of the Church," said Patriarch Porphyry. "Therefore, in the name of our Lord Jesus Messiah, I call on everyone: let there be no hatred. May the peace we found in the holy ceremony remain in our hearts. May there be no anger, may evil not prevail," the patriarch emphasized. He added: "Where there is hatred, where there is anger, where there is intolerance, there is evil - the one who needs to stay away from our beautiful home." "So, let us accept with humility and trust in God the result that the democratic process will show, and remember that it is God's will. Maybe right now it's not entirely clear to us, but it's God's will nonetheless," said Patriarch Porphyry. - About Serbia in Russian.
