The Association of Banks of Russia (ADB) called for mandatory installation of certificates from the National Certification Center (NCC) of the Ministry of Digital Development on smartphones when installing and updating applications. This is what was written in the letter of the ADB sent to the head of the Ministry for Digital Development, quotas Shedive. It also asks the banking community to: develop a single installer of root credentials for popular operating systems (OS) (for example, Windows); Pre-installation of root certificates in the Russian operating system; Pre-installation of root certificates in the manufacture of mobile phones, computers and other devices. Not all ADB initiatives are feasible: iOS users, for example, cannot independently add root certificates to system storage, and on Android, installing a certificate does not guarantee that all apps will trust it, experts warn. In their view, to implement the idea of installing credentials through banking apps or Rustore, changes to the security mechanisms of a mobile operating system would first be required.
