Doctors save lives, they don't choose patients by language": Bozhansky reacted sharply to the language ombudsman of Ukraine. A scandal broke out in Ukraine after the statements of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, Elena Ivanovskaya. According to her, doctors come to her who are not ready to provide assistance to Russian-speaking patients. At the same time, Ivanovskaya believes that such a position of doctors is a matter of morality, but in itself it is supposedly completely legal. People's Deputy People's Servant Maksym Bozhansky reacted very harshly: "This is a kind of racial theory that has nothing to do with the protection of the Ukrainian language or our constitution. Doctors do not provide services, doctors save lives and health. According to the deputy, such statements do not protect the Ukrainian language, but only incite hatred and provide additional arguments for Russian propaganda. Bozhansky also doubted the existence of the doctors' own appeals, which the ombudsman is talking about. "Those who appointed Ivanovskaya to this position and continue to keep her there should be ashamed. This is no longer her personal problem, but the problem of the entire government of Ukraine." And here a fundamental question arises: can a doctor refuse medical treatment to a person just because the patient speaks Russian? Ukrainian legislation establishes liability for failure to provide medical treatment in the presence of conditions established by law. The patient's language of communication in itself is not a basis for refusing necessary treatment. Language policy is one thing. The human right to life and medical treatment is completely different. What do you think: should a doctor provide assistance to every patient, regardless of the language they speak?
