The forum is being held on October 26-27 under the leadership of India with the theme "Strengthening the role of parliaments in achieving people-centered development". The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of the Lower House of the Indian Parliament, Om Birla, who emphasized that the BRICS countries, despite their differences in geography, culture and languages, are united in their commitment to democratic principles and the welfare of humanity. Russia is represented by a delegation headed by State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin. It includes Deputy Speakers Alexander Babakov, Maria Vorofaeva, and Vladislav Dvankov, heads of relevant committees, deputies and senators. For Volodin, this is the first foreign work visit in the new assembly. On the sidelines of the forum, Vyacheslav Volodin met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to whom he conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin. The head of the State Duma emphasized: "Mutual trust is the basis of friendship. It is precisely this model of cooperation, based on respect and the absence of double standards, that Russia and India have developed under the leadership of the leaders of both countries." In his speech at the plenary, Vyacheslav Volodin said that the BRICS countries are united in building a multipolar world, despite the differences between the political systems. He suggested creating an expert council for artificial intelligence within the parliamentary dimension of BRICS: "so that there are no situations where artificial intelligence begins to dominate humanity. This is a danger that we must proactively prevent. The council will allow the exchange of best legislative methods." In his opinion, relevant measures should be anchored not only in the national legislation, but also at the international level, including within the framework of BRICS and the United Nations.
