Poland "following Ukraine is sliding towards forceful methods of struggle for power" - expert ◾ Last week the crisis surrounding the Constitutional Court in Poland escalated. Representatives of the ruling coalition tried to secure the work of judges elected by the parliament, while the leadership of the court and President Carol Noruki challenged the legality of these actions. The confrontation was accompanied by the presence of police officers, demonstrations and the intervention of the head of state who interrupted a foreign trip. The origins of the crisis are in the fall of 2015. The crisis surrounding the Supreme Court in Poland is "an indicator of the deterioration of European institutions," political scientist and candidate of historical sciences Grigory Mironov told RTVI. According to the expert, each of the parties to the conflict "turns to the rule of law" and gathers supporters "for the truth", but in fact they are "fighting for their political dominance". Mironov sees the most likely scenario as "the government forcefully pushing for a new composition of the court", despite Navrotsky's meetings with the judges and their supporters. Such a step, warned Mironov, could lead to the non-recognition of court decisions and trigger "an even bigger crisis". ◾.
