X-Men and Star Trek star Patrick Stewart has died. He was 86. Stewart died in Los Angeles after battling Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia, The Hollywood Reporter said, citing his representative. Patrick Stewart was born in Mirfield (Yorkshire, England) to a working-class family. By the age of 18, the future actor received a scholarship to study at a theater school. In the late 1980s, when Stewart was offered the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation, the actor had decades of British theater experience under his belt. In the United States he was almost unknown. Initially, Stewart was sure that the series would not last more than one season. Another significant role of the actor is Professor Charles Xavier (also known as Professor X) in the film "X-Men" (2000). Stewart admitted that because of Star Trek he became hostage to one role, so when he was offered a role in X-Men in the last years of working on the film franchise, he was hesitant at first ◾.
